My History

My motivation and my story

I've known that I've wanted to work in the field of programming and web development since high school but I never felt like I was actually able to learn through more traditional methods like school and university. I've learned how to read and write Python code using resources like Mimo, and Youtube, as well as looking at other people's projects and trying to understand how they work on Git Hub.

I started my journey into programming and STEM on my high school robotics team for FIRST Robotics. I worked a little with Java at first just getting some servos and motors to spin and I was instantly enthralled. I really dove head first into whatever it was I could work on with computers. I ended up taking 2 AP classes for Intro to Computer Science where I learned a small amount of Basic, Javascript, and Java, and one basic web development class that taught me how to write simple HTML.

I attempted to attend Everett Community College and later Edmonds College directly after high school because I was hoping to work and progress through school at the same time. I ended up struggling more with the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and with the fact I was getting more money from the job I was doing at the time, so I ended up dropping school in hopes of progressing further with my career at the time. After taking the time off school and learning Python on my own using an app for learning programming called Mimo I felt I was able to build a portfolio and find a job without the need for a degree.

Recently I've been looking more into getting a job somewhere where I can start off as an entry-level developer and grow in the space, I've run into some roadblocks though. With the roadblocks I've been hitting I've decided school is my best option in order to get to the point I'm hoping to reach.
